  Kinbrook Island Campground Review
Reviewed on June 19th, 2020
My family and I just spent 8 glorious days camping at Kinbrook Island! We fell inlove with this campground and hope to return next summer. The beach was sandy and the water was crystal clear and warm enough to submerge yourself and splash around in. The campsite's are neatly kept with an abundance of tree's for shade on those hot summer days. There is also an onsite store that make's the best ice cream cones I've ever had! They know how to treat you!! It's nice to know that supplies aren't far should you run out of propane or marshmallows! The store was run by a super friendly host as well. If you don't have a shower in your unit there are onsite showers also. There is also a nice hiking path which takes you around the bird sanctuary where an abundance of wild life are waiting to be discovered. I enjoyed each and every evening watching the sun set alongside a row of sailboats; heaven!! But...there is always a but!! What we did not expect to come home with was an infestation of ear wigs in our camper!! The campground has an issue with these gross bugs and they have made a home out of my camper. This week we will have to fumigate these free loaders, which is unfortunate. There are very few negative comments about Kinbrook Island but keep in mind that showers are very expensive at $2 to start the shower for 5 minutes of bucking both hot and ice cold water which by the time it regulates you need to plug in another loonie to rinse. In addition, the lake gets deep very fast so watch your little ones and the beach although it is nice and sandy, there are a ton of larger rocks in the mix which really hurt the feet. We noticed a ton of cigarette butts and are hoping the beach may become non smoking at some point. Although pet's are not allowed on the beach, there was a pile of evidence suggesting some people just don't always follow the rules. Having said that, the positives far outweigh the negatives and we will be back!
