It is a pretty, pine studded campground, but with many sites not very private however. Some certainly are better than others.
Swimming at Beaver Pond is available in the campground with no life guards on duty. If fishing is your thing you'll find large mouth bass, perch and pickerel. No motors are allowed on the pond.
Quiet hours at the campground begin at 10:00 PM and it is fairly strictly enforced when busy, since many sites are very close together and it's easy to disturb your neighbors.
So if you like hiking, swimming or just love the deep forest feel, you’ll like Bear Brook. If you’re a large group of night owls with cases of beer and loud music, you’ll be thrown out if it’s busy.
No driving is needed to get to the beach, camp store, playground or ball field. All are a leisurely walk from your site. Campground is mostly level, making it friendly for kids to bike ride and for stroller pushing. Hiking trails abound in the surrounding forest.
Being a state park, there are no organized activities. All sites are non-electric, with no sewage hook ups. Water spigots scattered throughout for shared use. Flush toilets and showers are available.
Due to threats of infestation from emerald ash borer and the Asian longhorned beetle, campers are not allowed to bring out of state firewood into the park. Firewood should be bought locally, or at the campground.
