Description of site from the State park: Site #1 - 2 miles in from parking lot. Two tent pads. A secluded spot, a couple of hundred yards off the main trail in a small clearing among birch and poplar with a few spruce trees. On a rise overlooking a brushy part of the upper river valley with rocky cliffs in the distance. Trail down to the river site; benches around fire ring.

We were able to reserve this campsite on the state park website. The trail to this site is a bit overgrown, since it is a lesser-used trail. Site was very nice. Two tent pads (one big, one small) and a nice sized fire ring area. "Rustic latrine" is a down a short trail from the campsite. We never were able to find the trail down to the water and ended up going back up toward the main trail to get water. This is a VERY private campsite. We liked it a lot.

These sites are a long hike into the woods. You must be prepared to backpack. They tend to be smaller sites along a tiny river/large brook. Some of them are very nice and they all seem to be non-reservable first come first serve. We had not expected so many people to be there and we ended up having to hike to one of the last sites which was miles in.
