Before campground admins can add rental items to campground areas, rental types need to be created. Rental types are a way of identifying different types, or groups, of rental items. For example; Kayak, Paddleboard, Bicycle, Canoe, Picnic Shelter, etc. Rental Type names will be visible to customers when viewing rental items and are used to set reservation rates and settings for similar types of rental items.

To view and manage rental types, select 'Rental Types & Rates' from the Campgrounds menu.

The Rental Types & Rates page shows a list of rental types at the campground. If no types have been entered yet, the list will be empty. If types have been entered, there will be a list of available rental types and will also show the tax rate, weekday rate, weekend rate, and holiday rate associated with each type.

To add a new rental type, click on the 'Add Rental Type' link at the bottom of the 'Rental Types & Rates' page. This will bring up a page to add a new rental type and configurable options that can be set for the new rental type.

The first step when adding a new rental type is to select a name for it. There is a list of pre-set names in a drop down list with some of the more common options. However, you can also enter in your own name in the 'Custom' input box. If you enter a name in the custom input box, this will be used instead of what is in the pre-set drop-down list.

Next, enter in the rates for the rental type and configure other reservation related options such as:

Edit a Rental Type

To edit a rental type, click on the yellow pencil to the right of a rental type in the list. This will take you to a page where you can edit settings and set preferences for the particular rental type. The list of options will look similar to what you saw when adding a new rental type.

Remove a Rental Type

To remove a rental type, click on the red X to the right of the rental type list. Note: if there are any rental items in the system that still use this rental type, the delete option will not be available until these rental items have been changed to a different type or have been removed.
